Victims and Survivors of Crime Week - Part 3

For the third and final video in our Victims and Survivors of Crime Week series, we are publishing a video focused on the experiences of victims and survivors of crime. For those with communication disabilities, reporting crimes, navigating the justice system, and providing testimony can all be extremely challenging without the proper support. Often, this means that these victims cannot get the justice they deserve.

Communication Intermediaries (CIs) can help address these challenges by acting as neutral officers of the court, who intermediate between those with a communication disability and the justice professionals they contact. For victims and survivors of crime, CI services can mean the difference between equitable access to justice and being resigned to the reality that justice is not available to them. But the first step to equitable access is knowing that CI services are out there and that they can significantly impact the experiences of victims and survivors of crime.

Like all of the videos developed for this series, this third video was generously supported by Justice Canada, through its Victims and Survivors of Crime Week grant funding. We strongly believe that their support for the series will have a lasting impact on equitable access to justice.
